All the Different Types of Bears in the World Make Great Wood Chainsaw Carvings!

Bears are found all over the world, they are adored by many animals and depicted often in stories, toys, and décor. Today, there are eight species of bears in the world, and they are distributed widely across the globe. With the many different types of bears out there, many can find a favorite … or two or three! Types of Bears in the World; Which Will Your Next Chainsaw Carving Be?

1) North American Black Bear: These bears range in color from a bluish-black, black, to brown. Generally, the North American Black Bear are omnivorous, but their diet consists of mostly vegetable matter. By the time a male reaches 8 years of age, they are at their full size, where the females mate and reproduce between the ages of 5-7. These bears can reach up to 600 pounds or more on occasion. Black bears have the potential to live for 25 years in the wild but black bears rarely reach the end of their lifespan due to human hunting activities.
2) Brown Bear: There are several subspecies of brown bears and they range in color from blacks to browns and even as light as blondes. There size is dictated by geographic location and general food availability. The larger brown bears are in Alaska and Russia, comparing to the Polar Bear and other brown bears like the Grizzly bears that inhabit the Rocky Mountains and mountains throughout Europe are on the smaller side; the 1500 pound brown bears are a rarity.
3) Polar Bear: Among the largest of bears in the world are the Polar Bears as adult males can reach up to 1760 pounds. The average male in the Ontario borders way approximately 1100 pounds where the smaller adult females average 660 pounds.
4) Asiatic Black Bear: Asiatic black bears, or the Himalayan black bear and moon bear have a distinct white patch on the chest that is often crescent-shaped in their otherwise long black fur, especially around the shoulders and throat with relatively long years. These bears are generally carnivorous and will devour small mammals, birds, fish, mollusks, and carcasses but will also consume on grasses, seeds, fruits, berries, insects and honey. In northern climates they will eat plenty of nuts to fatten up for the winter hibernation, but in southern climates, they do not hibernate.
5) Panda Bear: Panda bears grow to be about 5 feet in length and come in around 250 pounds. The giant panda bear is elusive and rare as it is endangered. Depending on bamboo despite the lack of nutrition, the panda uses their extra digit to tear the bamboo and thanks to the excessively thick mucus contained in their guts, they are protected from splinters. These bears do not hibernate but migrate to lower elevations of the mountains to keep warm.
6) Other Bears: A few other bears include the Andean Bear, also an endangered species, they are the remaining short-faced bear. The Sloth Bear that has shaggy black hair bearing a white “U” or “Y” shaped marking. Lastly, the Sun Bear has short black or dark brown water-repellent fur with a yellow crescent on their chest, and strong paws.
