However, not all wizards and witches are evil; magical or miraculous, these figures are supernatural related to forces beyond the normal world. In some folklore they are good spirits or magicians who help people. In books and movies, wizards are depicted as both, having the powers to do good or evil. As these wizards and witches have the ability to take on many forms, they are frequently stereotyped as an elderly man or woman, wearing dark robes and pointy hats European and American folklore. Some wizards and witches will communicate with the evil spirits and other can take the form of black cats, and the Japanese legends the familiars are owls and in Africa it is monkeys.
