Budgerigar
These are some of the best pet birds for good reason, as budgies (also known as parakeets) are among the most popular around the world. These birds can be extraordinarily friendly and affectionate when properly tamed and cared for. budgies take well to training and can learn to perform many fun bird tricks, including learning to talk in addition to being small and fairly low-maintenance. Also, for beginners to bird ownership, budgies are excellent. They are about 6 to 8 inches and weigh about an ounce. Budgerigar have dark blue tail, yellow head, green abdomen, black and yellow back and mutations include white, blue, yellow, and gray.
Cockatiel
For anyone who wants a friendly and affectionate pet bird, the captivating cockatiel is another great choice. These birds make excellent pets when hand-fed as babies and raised in positive environments and originate from Australia. Cockatiels are exceptionally intelligent though they don’t normally learn to talk. Many learn to whistle quite well and mimic common household noises, like telephones, doorbells, and microwaves. Cockatiels are 12 to 13 inches long and weigh up to 3 ounces. Though their mutations include albino, lutino, pied, and cinnamon, cockatiels usually have a gray body, yellow face and crest, orange cheeks, long tail.
Cockatoo
A cockatoo is among the preferred large pet birds that is friendly and affectionate. They prefer to be with them as often as possible as these beautiful birds bond very strongly with their caretakers. It is imperative that you have plenty of time to spend socializing with your bird. They might resort to feather plucking or other destructive behaviors since cockatoos can become depressed if they aren’t given enough attention. Cockatoos are about 18 inches in length and weigh 16 to 26 ounces. They have large white crest; black beak (umbrella cockatoo) and are primarily white plumage; pale yellow on wings and tail.
Hyacinth Macaw
Hyacinth macaws are the largest of all parrots are often referred to as gentle giants. They love nothing more than to spend time playing and cuddling with their owners as they are as sociable and friendly birds. It can be difficult for most people to provide proper housing for these birds due to their size. Rewarded with an incredible relationship with their feathered friend are those that can meet their needs. Macaws runs about 40 inches long and weigh in at 42 to 51 ounces. They are marked with a black beak; dark gray feet and have solid blue plumage; yellow patches around eyes and beak.
Dove
Domesticated, hand-fed doves are known to be extremely sweet and gentle. Even people with limited bird experience generally find it easy to train and bond with dove since these birds rarely bite. Though doves usually won’t be overly demanding of attention, they do seem to enjoy their caretakers’ companionship. Doves are 11 to 13 inches in length and 5 to 8 ounces on weight. Dove mutations include white, orange, and pied (ring-necked dove) but traditionally, their plumage of dull grays and browns, black eyes and beak along with a black collar around nape of neck.
