The bald eagle has a white head that is very iconic with a solid yellow beak. The bald eagle has been used to symbolize freedom in America and is highly recognized for its grandeur. Although this is the majority of their diet they will dine on rabbits, mice and other dead animals that it may come across. Now imagine this huge bird swooping down from high up in the sky straight towards the land at 100 miles per hour. This is how they get a hold of their prey swooping it up from the ground or water with their huge talons. The nations bird was on a drastic decline in the 50’s and needed some major attention to get it back to a sustainable number. The efforts have since paid off and the bald eagle remains.
Golden Eagles: The golden eagle is a huge majestic bird that is the national bird of Mexico. The species is protected since it was highly sought after in fear that farmers thought the large bird would kill their animals. The golden eagle is the largest bird of prey in North America and has a wing span that covers more than seven feet. They are a beautiful dark brown coloring with golden feathers that encase the head and neck area. They choose to feed on small animals but will also look for fish and other aquatic animals to feed on. They do use their speed and swooping power to attack prey. They are able to fly at over 150 miles per hour and have been known to take out a full grown deer.
