If you are someone that loves to collect or you love a very specific animal, one of the best ways you can celebrate that is to have a carving done. A wood carving is a way to show off what you love with something that will last and add some beautiful décor to your house. One animal that is collected and loved happens to be chickens! Chickens have become not just a hard to reach farm animal but something that is even found in city backyards. They are an animal that is not only cute and fun to have around but has an added benefit of laying eggs. You can collect freshly laid eggs to use for cooking in your home. With more and more people choosing to be more aware of what they are eating and where their food is coming from makes chickens a great way to go. If you love chickens or have them, a carving is a great way to go.

Carve Me A Bear! Chainsaw Carvings List Different Types of Chickens that Make Great Chainsaw Carvings

Leghorn Chicken: When it comes to chickens most people will first picture the leghorn chicken. It is the standard look of a chicken that has white feathers, peach colored legs and a small red comb that is on top of their head. These are a chicken that people want to have around when they want a good egg laying chicken. They tend to lay large white eggs on a daily basis so you have fresh eggs each morning. They are a medium build when it comes to chickens and they generally weigh about six pounds. One of the complaints about this type of chicken is that they are not super friendly so you need to use caution when getting near them. More of the benefits of these chickens is that they are good in most types of weather and do well when they are in a pen.
Sussex Chicken: Another type of chicken that people love to have around are called the Sussex chicken. They are a chicken that is a bit larger than the Leghorn chicken weighing about eight pounds. The reason is not so much the height of the chicken but they are heavy bodied. That makes them great if you live in an area that has cold winters. They are able to live through the winter and continue to lay eggs. They will lay the light colored or tan eggs that most people assume to be more organic. The feathers of the Sussex chicken are great because they have a really fun speckled pattern. They have a red comb that can also be speckled or pink in color.
American Silkie: If you are interested in a chicken that is very different and adorable then the American Silkie is the one for you! They are most known for their furry feathers that make them look fuzzy from their head all the way down to their feet. Their feet are covered with furry feathers that make them look like they are wearing some fuzzy socks.
