Carve Me A Bear! Chainsaw Carvings Lists Fun Facts You Never Knew About Bears!

How to Tell the Age of a Bear: There are several species of bears that you might find throughout the world. Depending on where you live you may even be close enough to have them in your area. They are a large animal that should be respected but there are still some cool facts about them. One cool thing that can be done is to find out their age. The best way to do that is similar to a tree. You can take a tooth out and look at a cross section of the tooth to count the rings. You would need to have access to a tooth and a microscope to find out this information.
Bears Can Run Fast: You may see video of bears that are lazily lounging around the water edge or sleeping in a cave but they are not always this slow going. They do tend to reserve their energy in case they need to move quick in the presence of food or danger. The fact is that they are able to run quite fast and top out around 40 miles an hour. This is quick enough to catch up to a full grown horse. To put it into perspective one of the fastest humans can only top out at around 27 miles per hour. If you happen upon a bear in the wild there is no use in running. They will see you as prey and catch you in no time at all.
What Do Bears Eat?: You might think of bears and assume that they are a meat eater and go after fish and other small game only but that is not true. There is only one species of bear that sticks strictly to meat and that is the polar bear. They will only eat meat but all other bears will dine on lots of fruits, nuts, plants and other shrubs they can forage for.
Bears Have a Great Sense of Smell: The senses of a bear are fairly similar to a person. In fact unlike other mammals, they see in color and they can see just as well as we can. They also have great hearing which helps them to hear if there is danger coming their way. The sense that they have a huge jump on us is their smell. They are able to smell around 100 times better than us and will be able to track dinner that is nearly 20 miles away.
