French Bulldogs
These dogs have the squished-up face, batlike ears, rolls on their limbs and stubby tail. Their heads are relatively big compared to their muscular bodies. These dogs are pretty small measuring at 11” to 13” tall and weighing about 28 pounds. Their coloring is mainly white and tan. Some have a black face while others are all just one color. They may be small, but they are not the small yapping dogs. They are quiet and easy-going and love playing with their human. It does not take much to keep this dog happy just regularly walking them to give them exercise. These are great dogs if you live in an apartment or have a small yard.
Labrador Retrievers
Labradors retrievers are the most popular dogs in the United States. They are high-energy, water-loving family dogs. Labs love water, they even have webbed toes to help them move through the water better, even their tail can help them swim. Their webbed toes also can help them in colder climates. It helps keep the snow and ice from getting in between their toes. They come in a variety of colors, yellow, chocolate, black, and silver. There are two different lab breeds. They are referred to as the American and English labs. American labs seem to have more energy and a narrow head. While the English labs have more of the broad head and shorter legs. Labs are great with both humans and other dogs. They can be fearless, enthusiastic, curious and intelligent. They use many labs as service dogs. They need lots of exercise and outdoor time and love to play games like fetch and with the family.
Golden Retrievers
You may recognize these dogs by their color and gorgeous flowing fur with floppy ears. They come in a variety of golden colors from light to a dark golden color. Their fur has double coats, which can keep their body temperature regulated for both cold and warm weather. These dogs were originally bred to retrieve foul for the hunters. But most people today use them as family dogs to play fetch and work as service dogs. They are kind, trusting, and gentle dogs. Which actually, makes them really poor guard dogs. But great family dogs that are intelligent, playful, active, very trainable and easy to please. These type of dogs are great if you have a small children, but they also like to have exercise so a big yard is a great choice.
German Shepherds
German shepherds are known for having a wolf like appearance, but they are very strong, loyal, and noble dogs. In the past, they were bred to herd sheep and protect them from danger. Now you may see them as dogs doing police work, on challenging adventures, being very obedient and play with the family. These dogs are generally just black and tan or red and black, but you may find rare colors, such as silver or pure black. These dogs make great guard dogs, because they are curious and aware of danger. They can end up being over protective if not socialized. They are very intelligent and independent thinking type of dogs.
